Joe Bonamassa Tour

Joe Bonamassa is an American blues-rock  guitarist and singer-songwriter. He got his start in music at the age of 12 as an opening act for B.B. King. So it was no surprise to anyone when he chose to make music his career.

Over his career, since 2000, he has released 15 solo albums through his independent label J&R Adventures. Of these albums, 11 have reached #1 on the Billboard Blues charts. He has also played alongside blues and rock artists and legends and has earned 3 Grammy Award nominations. For many fans and blues-music critics, he’s become an icon that defines and codifies what blues-rock can do.

Recently, as of 2020, Bonamassa created a new independent record label called Keeping the Blues Alive Records. This label is dedicated to promoting and supporting the talents of blues musicians across the world. Currently, it has signed on famous blues artists including Dion DiMucci, Joanne Shaw Taylor, Joanna Connor, and Larry McCray.

Musical Influences

One of the reasons why Bonamassa stands out among American blues musicians is that he takes influence from foreign blues artists. Specifically, Bonamassa looks to British and Irish blues for his influences rather than his fellow American artists. In an interview in Guitarist magazine, he cited three albums that had the biggest influence on his music: The Beano Album by John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton, Rory Gallagher’s Irish Tour ’74 and Goodbye by Cream.

This outside influence has given his music a sound that is wholly unique in the states and fans have certainly responded. Especially when you consider how often he lands on the blues charts with his new albums and singles.
